What I did for memorial day

sat: well me and the dogs slept in ,nikki had to go shopping in fatlanta. I started to clean house when I found a case of M.R.E's(meals ready to eat)leftovers when we lived in florDuh(for tornadoes, hurricanes or rabid tourist). They were dated 1992 ,but hey these things are designed to last a long time so in honor of our troops in the middle east I thought I'd eat one for lunch. Ok I was more curious to see 1 if they were still good and 2 how they tasted never had tried a M.R.E.
I went through the case and picked out a ham and potatoes open the pack to find: packet labeled cracker, ham, potatoes, brownie, apple jelly, coco, orange drink, matches, small bottle of tabasco, hand wipe, tp and coffee. Then I opened the cracker and jelly first while the ham and potatoes cooked and I have to say for a 12 year old cracker it wasn't half bad. Now for the real test I slowly opened the ham and slowly took a whiff then again, smells like ham then I tried the potatoes , yep that's potatoes. Now I tried a byte and .... not the best oh....wait that's what the tabasco is for anyway after salt and tabasco again not bad for a 12 year old meal. Funny thing happened a hour after my lunch I noticed a boost in energy, I don't know what they put in there but it was like drinking a pot of coffee.
Later that night me and Nikki watched Paycheck a good movie then went to sleep.
sun: I woke up and started to work on JavaScript that I put off for the last week. Then worked in the yard for the rest of the day(Die weeds Die). Man I love three day weekends now I have a whole other day to finish up all my frontpage work(yuck) and study for a test in program design that and sneak in a BBQ lunch at the in-laws.well do all that and remember our dead.

MRE's is makin me mean

***The clouds parts and the angels sing***

Why? Micheal Dransfield has D S L after years of scheming and fighting with Trenton telephone Co. has paid off(and I didn't have to pay anyone off). So of course I spent the whole weekend enjoying the Internet the way it was intended: click link, view page; not click link get up eat sandwich, clean something and curse because I clicked the wrong link.

Sad though, I will miss arguing whether I have enough pipe width (wire) to run DSL or if our computers are compatible (yes they all use TCP/IP). Also I will miss hearing the creative reasons why it's taking so long to install(larry's is havin a special on cornpone and taters).

Yep with that battle done I think I'll go argue with the city about whether we are in the city limits or not.

If you ever want to see the corp. world at its worst look into whats going on at tech tv. I have been watching the message boards for the last couple of weeks and comcast has pissed off a lot of computer geeks by firering the whole staff(285 of them as of july) now from what I found out they are giving 100 of the tech tv people a job if they move to L.A. (and a pay cut I bet). Then they are closing down the S.F. office or their going to use it as a satalite office.
Well Mike that doesn't sound so bad, one of the reasons they had the show in SF was its a stones throw from silicone valley(about an hours drive) you know, where all that tech stuff is going on ... well until they outsource all the work to india.
When comcast tried to buy out the mouse I thought they were crazy, but make thousands of hackers mad now that just stupid.

Well another week has passed and I have put off as much as possible (including posting on the ol' blog). I guess it is that time of year, something is in the air (pollen) and being of west coast rearing my body is not able to deal with the cornucopia of vegetation in this area. I don't know why they even bother using fertilizer around here; just throw down some dirt and something will grow (in my case weeds).
Don't get me wrong, I love it here mild winter, fair summers and fairly inexpensive land prices. So ya have to take the bad with the good. Now if I were independently wealthy I would spend winter in Tahoe, fall and spring here (until the pollen count gets high then I would spend a month in Tucson) and summer in the bay area (San Francisco). I love to visit my family, not only for the obvious reasons but I also get to get to enjoy some time in the big sky country. Then after a few weeks of barren desert I am ready to go back to our tropical rain forests.
....Just sittin here doing a little California dreamin

If you ever wonder why the floppy is dead try saving your homework on one of the computers at our school in fact I am posting this while I am waiting for the files to write. I think its taking more time to rewrite these file that it took to do the work in the first place. So I would like to take the time in thanking the floppy for many years of hard work but your time is over take a bow and get off the stage.

Well thanks to Chris and Fireworks the banner is dead. I would have left it alone but it was in a bad spot ,that and nobody click on those things any way.
I might have won the war with my isp to bring more broadband service to my area, now I just need Nikki's work to approve the bill (fingers crossed). After that I will need all the planets to align and who knows what to actually get dsl installed.

Well, it has been almost a week since my last blog ,why? Well..... I told myself to wait until I came up with a positive posting and lets just say last week was not a good week for positive postings, but it's a new week now and time to make up for lost time.
One thing I did to refresh my batteries was to rent timeline and lost in translation. Both good movies, Timeline didn't alter the book much and was good if you are looking for some movie junkfood(tastes good but has little nutritional value). Lost in translation I liked, because it was filmed in Japan(Tokyo I think) and bill murray's character was not his usually caddyshack type of personality, a good all around darkish comedy.
Then to complete my lazy weekend me and Nikki watched season 3 of the X-files which took the whole day up. I really miss that show, well maybe just the first 5 seasons. The only thing I have now is CSi and there starting to loss their edge.
I started to watch that 10.5 on nbc but It has the lamest camera f/x I have ever seen some bonehead fresh outa filmschool thought it would be cool if to create more drama by zooming in on the actors during an intense moment, all I got from it was motion sickness. and with that I will go home and work on the next chapter of javascript ....
