Xmas with the good the bad and the ugly
This year I got to spend Christmas with my parents(
Good)and this has given me a chance to fix my Mom's computer (spyware and a little wormy aka
BAD) which is a 333mhz gateway(
ugly). There is nothing wrong with the hardware side of Mom's computer (other than being a little slow)and since she uses it for chating with friends, email and surfing the web(on a 56k dial-up
ugly)it should be fine until MS come out with an OS that her machine will not run(
BAD). I was tring to explain to my Dad why she will need to up grade the computer (Dad thinks a blogger is someone who sends out viruses) and I was trying to use the "time loading" reason which is if you spend ten hours a week on the computer, and you could do the same things on a faster computer in six hours you would gain 208 hours a year and at ten dollars an hour this would be $2080.00 which is the cost of two new computers and a DSL line for a year. I don't think this is right, but it sounds good when an IT person says it to his boss. Any way I think I will just have to patch this box up for another year and hope Santa comes to Mom's house (if shes
Good).
Any way must go back to downloading service pack 2
Wish me luck
Mike

Now I can start working on the important things blog postings, work on my web page/site, work on pro bono work and learn PHP/MYSQL and Apache (this will be easy compared to JavaScript class). Can't think of anything more to say, I am feeling uninspired these days and just want to veg.

How long doe it take to unhack a site?
Well in North Georgia Animal League's case 120 days or more (I still need to fix the CGI and the database). If you ever have a domain name that needs to be transfered and it can't because the old DNS has a hold on it,(and wants a $50 back-up fee) pay the money(extortion). I thought I would try the other route, let the name run out and register with an other DNS 45 days later.
Ha.. it was 60 days for the 45 day count down to start then make sure it didn't get released early. So what did Mike learn, pay the back-up fee and don't use the crappy free accounts that come with signing with a DNS.
well got to go MYSQL is calling
