Bad luck dayI'm am currently Hiding from my bad luck day. If your not sure what a bad luck day is, It's the day when nothing is going your way or when the universe seems to be conspiring against you. When I got home tonight, I was thinking "hey maybe it's past" so I made supper and then realized "nope it's still here" when I dropped my food on the way to the table. I knew I was due one of these, things have been going just to good lately.
Oh well, I guess you need the bad to appreciate the good.

Death
I went to funeral today for someone I didn't know. I really don't know what to do or say during these things. So to help be more empathic with the family, I imaged what it might be like to be in their shoes (to lose a son or a brother). This Funeral was extra sad, because the kid was 25 and a father of a 3 year ol' boy. I didn't hear much details about his death other than he died in a car wreck and it was so bad that they had to cremate him.
Don't tempt fate, be careful

My two day love affair
When I woke up Saturday morning I thought "hmmm, I have some free time today I think I'll work on my Jeep" and little did I know those words would kill my weekend.
My 1967 CJ5 has always started, even when the last motor had two holes in the pistons 1 and 4, and all of the rings where all broken. The new motor (225 Buick v6) I put in has severed me well for 2 years, before I turned my Jeep into a full time toy. This worked great until I started building a house, which left no spare time to finish restoring/ beefing up the Jeep, so basically my Jeep has been sitting here for about 5 years without starting. Back in August I started to fix all the things that happens to a vehicle when you let it sit for that long, which is the fuel turns into varnish and destroys the whole fuel system. I cleaned the fuel tank and replaced the carburetor, this just left a few things to do.
Saturday: After much assessment, I decided that all I need is a few feet of fuel line, a electric fuel pump and some gas... and some new oil.
So after I replaced the oil installed the pump then primed the oil system and finally put the gas in an prime the fuel system.
Ok time to start the beast... noda. Opps forgot the choke... noda. so I mess with the timing... fires, but doesn't start, then the battery dies. Great, So I let it charge and I'll get a fresh start Sunday.
Sunday: After a trip to the parts store I return with a bottle of starting fluid, carb. cleaner and after three tries she starts (Yea!!!!) , but wait.... what's that sound (tap tap tap) great sticking lifters. Needless to say I spent the rest of the day fixing stuff, but I can go out in my yard and start my Jeep. Now for my next chore, the brakes(Yuck!!), ahh maybe next weekend, right now I'm going to listen to 225 CIs of pure fun *bliss*.
